The Prophet's Day Out
When the prophet noticed that it was Nice o’clock and that the day was Someday and not just any day, he decided that he could go for a ride around and through the down — town that is.
The weather was fine, the clouds politely blocked the summer’s sun just before it decided to set — for him that is, but perhaps not for you.
So off and away the earth's lingering denizen went to see what God and His mercy would present.
Crossing the confluence of the great asphalt rivers, he passed the place of faded enforcement and continued on.
Nearby were those who spoke to the winds of their minds.
Across from them was the city and former hall, entirely consumed by a great metal beast which now slept satisfied in its lot.
On and upwards he went, to the top where the lightning had once struck him, but to no avail.
From there he could see the origin of the odysseys of centuries past and the present. From where they began, their origin he did share.
Historic buildings did line his way towards the residence of the sun.
To his left and to his right, he saw through the times to the present.
Looking ahead, ignoring the President’s dwelling he could see ahead to the past.
Should he continue on?
Far ahead was the tower of light and power, but the residence of century past lay just ahead.
He came upon the empty residence and stared into its lonely windows. The remains of storms past encompassed it about.
Down the street, through the dark corridor of the past, he came.
A wall of children blocked the way, but they looked upon him with awe, and opened like a gate to allow his passage.
And he found himself again ignoring the residence of a president, this one another.
So across to the Lot, and not a little, he went.
There through the remembrance of time, he did not dwell, but to visitors to converse. He told them of God’s greatness and how all else is the lesser. And of concerns His the priority, and all the rest is but vanity.
There was a time their presumptuous prophets might protest this true servant's claims.
But as the Present did testify, their old prophecies were shame and false — to the dismay of the latter prophets, who clung to those revelations of naught.
Almighty God is ever true; He is sure, and He does create.
Mistakes, temptation, and ruination are inherent to us and not to Him. Prostration, resignation, and Mediation, if we want Salvation.
So the saint turned back to his earthly dwelling which was both his origination and destination.
But which home there is no telling. For if the angels were to tell, it is a message already received and believed.
That which has been is now; and that which is to be has already been; and God requires that which is past. (Ecclesiastes 3:15)
