The Co‑Pastor and the Public Fall
Before you read this, know that I share it to testify that God still speaks and confirms His word. This is not about exposing anyone — it’s about showing that when God warns, it’s mercy, and when we ignore Him, the consequences are real.
Church in Missouri, location withheld
Decades ago, I had encountered a young assistant pastor who openly held an unbiblical view: that adultery could be “okay” in certain circumstances, and that divorce was the proper solution. I tried to reason with him from Scripture, but his position did not change.
Years later, I learned he was now co‑pastor of another church. Around that time, the Lord gave me a series of very specific details and led me — without a map or address — directly to a location that matched everything He had shown me.
Not long after, I called the co‑pastor directly and asked if his position on adultery and divorce had changed. It had not. The Lord prompted me to warn the church, and I followed the biblical process: first confronting him directly, then bringing a witness, and finally informing the church leadership.
I told the pastor plainly that if they did not lead this man back to the Lord and correct his teaching, the consequences would be very bad — public exposure if they did nothing. The pastor admitted he knew the problem was real and was concerned, but he did not act. The church office was warned, but no change came.
Soon after, the church publicly defended the co‑pastor against unnamed “accusations.” The very next day, news broke of a serious public scandal involving that leader — confirming what God had warned.
“Your sin will find you out.” — Numbers 32:23
Reflection
This was a sobering reminder that when God warns about a leader’s unrepented sin, it is not to stir gossip or division — it is to protect the flock and call the sinner to repentance. Ignoring such warnings not only harms the leader, but also damages the church’s witness when the truth inevitably comes to light.
This testimony is shared with reverence and discretion. Names and locations have been intentionally withheld. If you feel you recognize the people or churches involved, please assume that you do not — and keep that suspicion to yourself. This is not intended to accuse or expose, but to honor what God revealed and confirmed, and to protect the innocent.
