When God Defends
🕊️ When God Defended Me Before a Church
Before you read this, know that I share it to testify that God still speaks and confirms His word.
This is not about exposing anyone. It’s about showing that when God warns, it’s mercy — and when we ignore Him, the consequences are real.
This was not the first time, nor will it be the last.
"This is one of the clearest times I’ve seen the Lord stand by me, just as He did for His servants in Scripture."
This testimony is shared with reverence and discretion. It is not intended to shame, but to affirm that God still speaks, warns, and defends. Names and details have been withheld to protect privacy and focus on the Lord’s work.
I once visited a church and would "preach" to others, simply sharing God’s Word straight from Scripture. I didn’t realize it at the time, but this was shaking the church, especially it's leadership. It stirred them so deeply that they held a special Monday meeting to decide what to do with the man of God who believed on Him.
On my way home, I would pass that church and noticed all the cars. Curious, I walked in just as they were leaving that meeting. This looked as if they had seen a ghost, scared stiff. No one came near. No explanations.
But that Sunday, after the morning service, nearly the entire church filed past me, apologizing. No one would say why.
Finally, a friend of mine — one of the pastors who had been in that meeting — told me what happened. Someone had prayed, "Jesus, speak for or against him." And according to this pastor, the Lord Jesus Christ Himself showed up and testified on my behalf.
Now we know Jesus was there in spirit, because He promised. But what happened that day shook them to the core.
“For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” — Matthew 18:20
But there was more.
The lead pastor, who I believe had opposed God from the beginning, was deeply affected by this encounter. Yet despite everything, he did not turn back to Christ.
The assistant pastor openly resisted Scripture — especially on the matter of marriage and divorce. I knew something deeper was at play.
In the years to followed, this same assistant pastor was overseeing marriage counseling for the denomination. To what degree, I’m not sure. But knowing his stance was unbiblical, I confronted him privately, hoping he had returned to the Word. He had not. He was now serving as an assistant pastor in another city.
So I followed the biblical process (per Matthew 18:15–17):
• First, I spoke to him directly.
• Then I brought witnesses.
• Then I warned the church leadership.
But they would not listen. They did not take appropriate action. They ignored the Word of the Lord.
Meanwhile, the lead pastor had moved on to lead another church in another state. He mocked me and planned to host his former assistant pastor as a guest speaker that Sunday.
But God wouldn't have it.
Soon after, the church issued a public defense of the co‑pastor in response to unspecified “accusations.” The following day, a serious public scandal involving that leader came to light — confirming what God had already warned. See The Co‑Pastor and the Public Fall.
I don’t share this to shame anyone. I share it because it happened. Because God warned. Because God defended. And because when we ignore His voice, the consequences are real.
It was clear this was not a man of God — yet he was serving as a pastor. And from what followed, it seems the church saw it too. But instead of doing what was right before the Lord, they took a stand against what they knew to be right — even in the face of serious concerns.
"The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still." — Exodus 14:14
"When a man’s ways please the LORD, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him." — Proverbs 16:7
"The Lord stood near Paul and said, ‘Take courage…’" — Acts 23:11
This testimony is shared with reverence and discretion. Names and locations have been intentionally withheld. If you feel you recognize the people or churches involved, please assume that you do not — and keep that suspicion to yourself. This is not intended to accuse or expose, but to honor what God revealed and confirmed, and to protect the innocent.
